Lucknow, Jul 9: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati broke her silence on Friday, claiming that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi refused to have a meal in a Dalit's home on Thursday night.
“He spent last night in the house of Uday Vir, a Dalit belonging to the Kanjar sub-caste in Marodgarhi village. But his food was brought from outside. Even his security personnel didn't eat the meal of a Dalit,” she said.
“His padyatra is a political gimmick which will not help him gain ground in UP,” she added.
However, Rahul said he skipped having a meal at the Dalit's house because he didn't want to put burden on the poor family.
