Moradabad, Sept 28: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati today swung into election mode and announced the formation of three new districts in western UP.

 
Sambhal, dominated by Muslims and Yadavs, has been carved out of Moradabad district to be named Bhim Nagar district.
 
Shamli and Kairana, carved out of Muzaffarnagar district shall be named Prabuddha Nagar district.
 
Hapur carved out of Ghaziabad district shall be named Panchsheel Nagar district.
 
With Assembly elections a few months away, political parties are wary about Mayawati's announcements, but the local electorate appears to be happy.
