Raipur: A Maoist cadre was arrested during a joint search operation by security personnel in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Kanker, the district police said here today.
The Maoist cadre Suklal (30) was apprehended from the restive Mahurpat village within Tadoki police station limits last night, Kanker Superintendent of Police R N Dash said.
A joint squad of the Border Security Force (BSF) and District Force (DF) was on a combing exercise in the Tadoki region, located around 250 kms away from the state capital.
Based on a tip-off about movement of a suspected Maoist, Suklal was rounded up from Mahurpat forests, the SP said.
Allegedly, Suklal was involved in several criminal offences ranging from loot, arson, murder and kidnapping, Dash said, adding that he is being interrogated.
