Mamata opposes linking of LPG subsidy with Aadhaar cards

Kolkata: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has opposed linking of LPG subisdy disbursement with Aadhar cards saying that hardly 15 per cent of people in her state have Aadhaar cards.  Writing in her Facebook

"It is also known that the Hon'ble Supreme Court has not favoured linking of AADHAAR CARD to disbursement of benefits under various government schemes.

"We strongly protest this sort of arbitrary action on the part of the Petroleum Ministry to deprive the poor people of their legitimate right and demand immediate roll back of this anti-people decision.

"For every matter, a new card is coming. Then how many cards will one have? Will one wear a “garland of cards” – Ration Card, Voter Identity Card, Health Card, BPL Card, PAN Card …?

"I want one uniform card to cater to all provisions and meet all requirements of the people."
