Kozhikode (Ker), Aug 5: A local court here on Thursday allowed exemption to popular Malayalam film actress Meera Jasmine from personal appearance before it in an alleged cheating case.
The counsel for Meera today sought for her exemption from personal appearance in the Kozhikode Chief Judicial First Class Magistrate court citing frequent travelling owing to film shooting inside as well as outside the state.
The case relates to a petition filed by film director K Devaraj, who claimed that though Meera had taken Rs 5 lakh as advance for acting in his film, she had neither acted in the movie nor had she returned the money.The case has been posted for September 23. PTI
