Varanasi: Former BJP ideologue KN Govindacharya has described Prime Minister Narendra Modi government's land acquisition policy as worse than that of the previous regime UPA.
Announcing that he would join Anna Hazare's padyatra and dharna at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi from February 20 to 25; Govindacharya questioned the rationale behind PM's pet project of developing 100 smart cities at the cost of 70,000 odd-villages.
He said, “There is no doubt on Modi's intention. However, his policies are questionable.”
As reported by the Times of India daily, he sought justification on the implementation mechanism of the projects initiated by the government as, according to him; these indicate that facilities for wealthier population are on the top of government's priority list.
“The land acquisition policy was formulated only on the basis of compensation. The consent of gram sabhas and public interest, which was part of UPA's policy, has been sidestepped”, he said.
Govindacharya pointed fingers on PM's ‘Nirmal Ganga Project' and ‘Make in India' campaign also. He alleged that the ‘Make in India' project was a license to foreigners to benefit at the cost of national interest.
He further added that analysis of FDI inflow has not caused any increase in productivity.
He suggested the government to learn lesson from the Golden Quadrilateral project for which funds were collected by issuing bonds instead of looking for FDI.
According to him, ‘Make for India' and ‘Made by India' issues should be addressed prior to Modi's dream project ‘Make in India' which will only assist foreign investors.
