Mumbai: The Maharashtra state election commission will hold elections to over 700 gram panchayats in December, said state chief electoral officer Neela Satyanarayan. Earlier it was announced by the state election commission that elections will be held between Janaury to March next year. Satyanarayan said the change in dates was on the request of various political parties. The date for filing of nominations will be between December 3 and December 7. The nomination forms will be scrutinised on December 9 and the last date for withdrawal is December 11, as per the new schedule. Elections will be held on December 22. Voting will be held between 7.30 am to 3.00 pm in Gadchiroli district,which is affected by naxal violence, said Satyanarayan.
