Mumbai: The Maharashtra government will observe September 17 as 'Industries Day' as part of its effort to provide balanced growth to existing small, medium and large scale enterprises and render assistance for setting up new industries to boost the state's financial health.
"Under the Maharashtra Industrial policy, the government wants to provide a platform to small, medium and large scale industries to showcase their strengths and growth potential.
"Thus, the government has decided to celebrate 'Industries Day' in each district on Vishwakarma Jayanti," the Maharashtra government said in an official release issued here yesterday. Celebrating 'Industries Day' will help districts exhibit their growth potential and opportunities received for their development in the year, it said.
"This will also get all the districts on the same page with regards to industrial growth as well as provide job opportunities along with helping the government in ensuring that its policies benefit people at the grass-root level," it said.
According to an official from the Industries Department, a committee will be set up under district collectors of each district that will be responsible for holding the 'Industries Day' celebrations in their respective districts.
The small scale industries department currently gives awards to industries at the district level for their exemplary performance, the official said.
"These awards will henceforth be given on Industries Day," the official added.
