Mumbai, May 7: BJP leader Kirit Somaiya yesterday alleged that the Congress-NCP government in Maharashtra was covering up a multi-crore scam brewing in the state Public Works Department.
Talking to reporters here, Somaiya accused the Anti- Corruption Bureau of dragging its feet in the investigation into a recent raid conducted on a Nashik-based PWD executive engineer.
Agencies like the RBI, Income Tax department, ED and CID are being deliberately kept out of this investigation, he alleged.
Somaiya further said he had written to Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and Home Minister R R Patil demanding an immediate probe into the alleged cover up.
The BJP leader also said that action was not being taken against alleged scams involving the chit fund companies that were functional in Maharashtra.
