Mumbai: Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) began region wise preparations on Thursday for the forthcoming assembly elections with senior leaders being deputed with responsibilities to oversee strategy and campaign.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, MPCC chief Manikrao Thakre, senior leaders Sushilkumar Shinde, Shivajirao Deshmukh, Harshvardhan Patil and Patangrao Kadam were prominent among those who attended the meeting called specially to discuss the party's election preparedness for Western Maharashtra.
AICC general secretary Mohan prakash also participated in the deliberations.
The preparatory meeting for Marathwada region will be held on Friday and former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan will attend the meeting, MPCC spokesman Sachin Sawant informed.
