Maharashtra approves proposal to up contingency fund to Rs 2500-crore

Mumbai: To provide relief to farmers suffering crop losses due to hailstorm, the Maharashtra government yesterday approved a proposal to hike the limit of contingency fund to Rs 2,500 crore from Rs 1,000 crore.  Officials

“They opposed the proposed hike and sought intervention from the government. It is the Management council which decides on the hike but government can intervene,” source said.

According to sources, Chavan told Higher and Technical Education minister Rajesh tope to speak to the Vice chancellor and resolve the issue.

Sources said status quo should be maintained in respect to fees. “The ministers demanded that not a single penny should be increased. They said 25 per cent hike means rs 1200 increase in the existing fees. Students will not be able to bear the burden,” sources said.
