With government having ban the Maggi noodles, for good 15 days, the controversy has come into limelight. Once an everybody's favourite junkie is now itself in a mire.
However, Nestle is said to be a household name in India and its product, Maggi Noodles, is no less than a staple food of the country.
But now, with Maggi in the controversy mire, Nestle is heading towards a legal trouble for its star product.
According to FDA, the favourite dish of every Indian is said to be harmful as it contains large amount of lead and Monosodium glutamate (MSG).
MSG is a type of amino-acid found in various agricultural products. It is used in Maggi to enhance its flavour. MSG consumption leads to nausea, upset digestive system, headaches, etc.

1. Government has referred Maggie issue to National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.
2. Delhi Government put a 15 day ban on sale of Maggi noodles and has asked the company to clear its existing stock.
3. Amitabhi Bachchan said that he hasn't received any notice so far, but will surely cooperate with the law.
4. Union Minister Ramvilas Paswan stated that if the contents in Maggi are injurious to health, then action will definitely be taken.
5. Punjab and Telangana too ordered laboratory testing of Maggi noodles samples following allegations of lapses in food safety standards.
6. Big Bazaar and Kendriya Bhandar have together removed Maggi from their stores.
7. Delhi government decided to initiate a case against Nestle India after it found samples of Maggi noodles "unsafe" for consumption.
8. Yesterday, 10 out of 13 samples tested in Delhi were found to have amounts higher than permissible limits.
9. Kerala Government ordered a pullout of Maggi noodles from about 1,300 government-run outlets yesterday. After Kerala government ordered ban on sale of Maggi noodles, orders of Maggi noodle packets were recalled from market.
10. Government stated that Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is testing more Maggi and action will be taken against brand ambassadors as they would be liable for action if advertisements are found to be misleading.
11. Many states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Bihar, Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh have said they are testing the noodles.
12. Madhuri Dixit tweeted that she met the officials of Nestle and said that they have assured her that there would be no compromise on the quality of the popular snack which is under scanner.
13. Although there was no comment from the company on the case filed. The Union Consumer Affairs Ministry also asked the FSSAI to look into the matter while Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said that a class action suit can be initiated in the matter if a complaint is lodged in this regard with the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.
14. Amitabh Bachhan, Madhuri Dixit and Preity Zinta were, separately, dragged to the court for promoting the 'two-minute' noodles brand.
15. FSDA filed a case against the Nestle India and 5 others in a local court in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh.
16. FDA in UP gave nod to prosecute Nestle India.
17. FDA in Haridwar sent a notice to Madhuri Dixit for endorsing Maggie Noodles. FDA asked Dixit to submit a report on claims made in the advertisement regarding the nutrition value of Maggi.
18. Nestle made a press statement that it has submitted samples to an independent laboratory and will provide those results to officials.
19. Nestle rejected the reports, saying it does not add MSG to the product. It also stated that there are no other orders to recall MAGGI Noodles products in the market.
20. Then Uttar Pradesh Food Safety and Drug Administration officials said asked Nestle India to withdraw a batch of Maggi noodles from the market after getting the information of adulteration.
21. The sample tests held in Kolkata's referral laboratory confirmed the presence of excess amount of lead and MSG much more than the permitted limit.
22. FDA asked Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to cancel Maggi's license and order the quality test of Maggi across the country.
23. Few days back, Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) in Uttar Pradesh reported of finding Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) and excessively high quantity of lead (nearly seven times the permissible limit) in Maggi during its sample test.
