New Delhi: FSSAI may have ordered a complete ban on production and sale of Maggi, but in the local market of the posh south Delhi locality of Vasant Vihar shopkeepers are selling this product of Nestle openly and that too at a hefty price.

Maggi which was sold at  Rs 10 per packet before the ban came into effect, is now being sold at  Rs 102 per packet.

According to a report published in Hindustan Times, you need to convince the shopkeeper first that you will not report this to police or any such authority.

The transaction is indeed equivalent to an illegal 'drug' deal experience.

Several shopkeepers said that they are still left with a few last packets and as the quantity is getting limited the price is automatically going up.

"This batch was not taken from us so instead of just throwing it away we are selling it to people. If people are ready to buy these at whatever price we quote then why throw it away?" a shopkeeper in Vasant Vihar was quoted as saying in a HT report.

The FSSAI has earlier this month ordered the Swiss company to stop production in India and recall its product from market after reports claimed that it contain high level of MSG.

Those who are buying Maggi at inflated price  say that they do not care  about reports suggesting presence of of MSG in Maggi.

"We have been having Maggi for so many years. I think we are immune to the lead content in it. If adulteration had to stop us from having food in this country then we would starve to death," Rashmi Sinha told HT.
