8 migrants killed, over 50 injured after truck-bus collision in Madhya Pradesh's Guna

At least 8 migrants have been killed and over 50 are injured after the bus in which they were travelling collided with a truck in Madhya Pradesh's Guna. The migrant labourers were travelling from Maharashtra to Uttar Pradesh amid lockdown situation in the country.

8 migrants killed after truck in which they were travelling was hit by a bus in Madhya Pradesh's Guna.

At least 8 migrants have been killed and over 50 are injured after the bus in which they were travelling collided with a truck in Madhya Pradesh's Guna. The migrant labourers were travelling from Maharashtra to Uttar Pradesh amid lockdown situation in the country. The accident took place at Guna bypass near UP Dhaba around 3-4 am on Thursday morning, Cantt police station in-charge Madan Mohan Malviya informed.

The labourers were travelling from Mumbai to Uttar Pradesh. Some of the migrants were belonging to UP's Unnao. The injured persons were rushed to a nearby district hospital.

Policemen involved in the rescue work were later quarantined in the wake of the COVID-19 scare, another police official said.

Meanwhile in another incident, at least 6 migrants were run over by a UP roadways bus in Uttar Pradesh near Muzaffarnagar-Saharanpur border on Wednesday night.

The migrants were walking from Punjab to Bihar during lockdown as public transport is temporarily unavailable. Madhya Pradesh incident is the third such incident in the country in the last one week. Earlier at least 16 migrants were run over by train in Maharashtra who were walking home on railway tracks.

A police official told all 16 killed were returning to Madhya Pradesh and had slept on railway tracks.

The workers, who were walking to Bhusawal from Jalna, were returning to Madhya Pradesh, an official at the Karmad police station informed. 5 workers are critically injured.
