Guwahati, Apr 30: A low intensity explosion rocked a residential locality in the city late yesterday evening, police said.
However, nobody was hurt in the explosion which took place at Chandmari locality of Guwahati.
The explosion took place at a road-side drain in Nabagiri road just before 9 pm, they said.
While police team and forensic experts have rushed to the spot, so far details regarding the culprits or their motives are not known.
Preliminary investigation suggest that a hand-made low explosive device was used. The device was fitted with crude explosives and ball-bearings and it fell into a drain, police said.
The blast created some splinters in a wall adjacent to the drain and a few bricks were displaced from the wall.
Probes are on to establish whether it was an attempt by some militants to create panic or result of some personal enmity.
