Bangalore: BSF DGP Subash Joshi, who was scheduled to attend an event here, has rushed to Jammu and Kashmir in view of ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops at Indian forward posts along LoC in which one BSF jawan and another was seriously injured.

“BSF Chief had to cancel the scheduled ‘Pension Adalat' here as he had to rush to Jammu and Kashmir yesterday after one of our boys succumbed to injuries and another seriously injured in cross-border firing carried out by Pakistani troops in Poonch district,” P V Eapen, DIG STC (BSF Bangalore) told reporters here.

BSF Head Constable Ram Niwas Meena, who was injured in cross-border fire in Samba in Jammu on August 5, succumbed to his injuries at AIIMS in Delhi yesterday, Eapen said.

He died due to multi-organ failure and excessive bleeding, Eapen said.

Another jawan, Pawan Kumar, had received a bullet in his chest and his legs had been paralysed due to the injury to his spinal cord. He has been been admitted to AIIMS in Delhi.
