New Delhi: In a very unusual case, a woman from Satna district delivered 10 (dead) foetuses within a few hours, due to multiple miscarriages of her pregnancy.
Anju Kushwaha, 28, was brought to the Madhya Pradesh state run Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, about 130 km from her native village Koti in Satna district.
Her husband, Sanjay, brought her to the SGMH late Sunday night following advice of doctors in Satna after she complained of complications.
A doctor attending to the woman said the medical team was awestruck when Anju's husband Sanjay presented before them the nine stillborn babies.
She delivered nine stillborn babies on the way to the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial hospital.
When the medical team examined her, they found one more foetus was in the woman's womb. It was delivered early Monday but again turned out to be stillborn.
The doctors said it was a case of miscarriage followed by "hyper stimulation syndrome", where fertility drugs stimulate the ovaries to produce many egg sacs.
