Muzaffarnagar: A 60-year-old woman, who had fled her village after riots last year and later moved out of relief camp in Shahpur due to alleged government pressure, yesterday died due to cold near the camp.

Mehmooden, a widow, was living with her four sons at a temporary shelter near the camp.
The family had also claimed government compensation for riot victims but was denied the succour.
The family had fled Kakda village after the clashes and had taken shelter in Shahpur camp here, sources said, adding the family moved out of the camp after pressure by district administration.
With icy winds sweeping the region, the woman got ill some days back and succumbed today.
Chief Medical Officer SK Tayagi said the woman was not in official camp and was living in a tent.
