New Delhi: The Delhi Police yesterday issued a traffic advisory on avoiding roads along the route of today's full dress rehearsal of the Republic Day Parade.
The advisory said the parade would start around 9.50 a.m. from Vijay Chowk and proceed to the Red Fort.
"There would be elaborate traffic arrangements to facilitate the movement of VIP vehicles, invitees and general public to reach the place of function and also to ensure safe and smooth flow of traffic in other parts of the city," said Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Anil Shukla.
Major roads around the Red Fort area would be closed for general traffic from 5 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Thursday.
Traffic restrictions would apply to Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Netaji Subhash Marg.
No cross-traffic would ply on Rajpath and India Gate from 9.30 a.m.
Metro services would operate as usual in the Jehangirpuri-HUDA City Centre but the Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan stations will remain closed till 12.30 p.m.
"Since the entire city will be under heightened security, barricades and checking will be intensified within the city and at the borders. Citizens are requested to plan their movements accordingly," said Shukla.
Similar arrangements will be in place on Jan 26.
