Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee yesterday visited the house of eminent writer Mahasweta Devi to greet her a day before her birthday.
The Jnanpith award winner writer will turn 88 tomorrow.
Mahasweta Devi's relation with Banerjee has fluctuated over the yeas.
The eminent writer supported Banerjee, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief during the Singur and Nandigram movement.
But when the TMC government came to power in West Bengal, Mahasweta Devi had called the state government “fascist”.
