New Delhi: Cooking gas (LPG) distributors today threatened to go on indefinite strike from January 1 against the government decision to introduce DBTL (Direct Benefit Transfer for LPG) wherein consumers are required to submit details of Aadhar Card.
Nearly 12600 distributors across India have decided to supply cylinders only to domestic consumers from Jan 15 and will proceed on indefinite strike from Jan 19 if there demands are not met.
Resenting that KYC (know your consumer) scheme had been introduced in a haste without imparting proper training to distributors, members of the AILDF said that inadequate strategy was resulting in long queues of consumers at distribution agencies, leading to law and order problems sometimes.
They also condemned the dual pricing policy of the government claiming that the price difference between 14.2 kg domestic cylinder and 19 kg commercial cylinder is around Rs 1,000.
Distributors are charged this difference as penalty in case of any diversion which is wrong.
