Agra: Incessant showers since yesterday morning have virtually paralysed life in Taj city Agra.
Old-timers recalled "this seems to have been the wettest January in recent memory, with several spells of rains."
"The pot-holed roads in the city have become slippery. Some parts have been water-logged. Since the cold wave is continuing, it will take pretty long for water to dry up," said Vijay Nagar Colony resident Sudheir Gupta.
On demand of parents, the district administration has extended the winter holidays in schools till Jan 23.
The continuing showers are now becoming a problem for farmers, particularly for those who have sown mustard and potato, said farmer Ravi Singh.
Tourists visiting Agra are facing a tough time. "The Taj Mahal was all wet. Several old timers preferred to see the Taj Mahal from the main gate to avoid getting wet. The gusty chilly wind made it extremely uncomfortable," said photographer Vishal.
