Bhubaneswar: A family of four, including two children, were charred to death Sunday after a fire broke out in a slum in Odisha's Jagatsinghpur district, police said.

The fire erupted in the slum at the port town of Paradip, about 120 km from here, around midnight.

A man, his wife and their two children died in the fire, District Superintendent of Police Satyabrata Bhoi told IANS.

The fire also gutted about 50 huts leaving at least 200 people homeless. Fire fighters were rushed to the slum and the flames were controlled, he said.
