Amritsar: A senior state Congress leader was injured today after police used mild force to thwart partymen from laying siege to the residence of Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia here.

Reiterating their demand of a CBI probe against Majithia for his alleged role in the drug racket and his immediate removal from the Cabinet, Congress activists staged a protest here besides burning effigy of the minister.

A scuffle broke out between Congressmen and the police when the latter blocked their way to the minister's residence.

Senior leader SRS Lalli Majithia, who was leading the protest, was injured and admitted to a local private hospital because of breathlessness after a minor scuffle with police.

Lalli's turban (head gear) went off during the scuffle with policemen after which Congress activists started pelting stones on them.
