Dehradun: Health services in the city were affected today as doctors went on a day's strike in protest against the brutal assault on medical students in Kanpur.
OPDs were closed and only emergency services were kept open in hospitals.
Demanding unconditional release of the arrested students and withdrawal of charges framed against them allegedly at the behest of an MLA, the doctors gathered at the Parade Ground here and held a demonstration in protest against the incident terming it as “highly condemnable and shameful”.
“This approach by concerned authorities' smacks of an arrogant, vindictive attitude and gross misuse of powers. This act against medical students or any human being is illegal and in contravention to human right and gross abuse of authority,” the doctors said.
