New Delhi: Just two days after AAP protest against the police, the Delhi Police has suspended three police officers after the party showed a video of them beating a man brutally.
The video was shot on Jan12 near Delhi Red Fort.
The video shows three police officers beating a man near Red Fort and pulling out his wallet.
"Delhi police is known to be brutal. Every now and then we hear of stories about Delhi police's brutality. Here is another such video. Not only does the video clearly show Delhi Police's inhuman behavior but also the urban legend of police extorting money is caught on camera," AAP posted a message with the video.
"Just after the video was uploaded, the police came into action and three cops were suspended," said the Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat.
Any such incident will not be tolerated, Delhi Police commissioner BS Bassi said.
Delhi police suspended the three cops seen in the video, pending an inquiry in connection with beating up the civilian.
Kejriwal held a traffic-stopping 33-hour protest this week to demand action against Delhi Police officers who had refused to make arrests ordered by his ministers.
The chief minister has blamed the force for the rising crime in the capital, and demanded that control of the force, which rests at present with the union government, be transferred to the state government.
