He is an engineering (Computer Science) graduate of Bhartividyapeeth's college of engineering.
Prior to joining AAP he was working with Johnson Controls India Pvt Ltd in Gurgaon.
Bhardwaj won the Greater Kailash constituency seat, defeating the Ajay Kumar Malhotra of the Bharatiya Janata Party by 13092 votes.
