Muktsar (Punjab): Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa today appealed to the people of the state “to wage a war” against drug lords, and dethrone the SAD-BJP government for “promoting mafia culture”.
Addressing a party meet during the Maghi Mela here, Bajwa said the people of Punjab had for long years tolerated corrupt practices and arrogance of the Badal family, and urged them to join the protest against the drug menace on January 16.
Bajwa, along with party general secretary Shakeel Ahmad and Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, paid rich tributes to 40 “Muktas” (Sikh warriors) who sacrificed their lives for the pride of the Sikh community.
In his speech, Ahmed said the All India Congress Committee fully backed the series of agitation launched by the state party unit against the drug menace. He said AICC had endorsed the demand for a CBI probe into the drug scam.
Ahmed said the Congress would win all 13 Lok Sabha seats in the state under the command of Bajwa.
