Indore: Lokayukta Police today claimed to have discovered assets worth over Rs 2.5 crore following searches at the residences of former examination controller of MP Professional Examination Board here and in Bhopal.
A 15-member Lokayukta team searched the house of Dr Pankaj Trivedi, the main accused in the scam, at Vinay Nagar here in the presence of his wife, official sources said.
So far, movable and immovable assets worth over Rs 2.5 crore—which are disproportionate with his known sources of income during his 28-year-long service—had been found, they said.
Trivedi's assets include 5.5 hectares of agricultural land, two houses and a plot of land, besides jewellery worth Rs 2.5 lakh.
Documents found at his house also suggested he had a partnership in a local college, sources said.
The scam came to light in July last year after irregularities were found in the state's Pre-Medical Test (PMT), and in recruitment for various government posts, including that of contractual teachers.
MP police's Special Task Force is probing the scam even as there have been demands from several quarters for a CBI investigation.
STF had already seized Rs 25 lakh cash from Trivedi's Bhopal residence when the matter was exposed.
He was arrested in September last year and is currently in a judicial custody.
