Bangalore: A 30-member Karnataka legislators delegation is heading for the Amazon rain forests in January to apparently understand its flora and fauna. This study tour will cost the state exchequer Rs 2.25 crore.
The study tour is sparked by controversy as there are parts of the state which are hit by drought and state is spending so much on study tours of MLAs.
The proposed tour is of 10 to 12-days and includes trip across Brazil, Argentina and Peru and will cover holiday destinations such as Rio De Janerio, Manaus, Iguassu, Lima, Cusco, and Buenos Aires, besides Dubai, according to the itinerary.
The date of journey is yet to be finalised.
A similar planned junket of 100 MLAs in different batches when large parts of the state were reeling under drought during the BJP rule last year had triggered a public outcry.
