Lakhs take holy dip on Kartik Poornima

Allahabad/Varanasi/Haridwar:  Lakhs of devotees today took a holy dip in the river Ganga on the occasion of Kartik Poornima (full moon in the month of Kartik).





The devotees paid obeisance to the Sun God early at dawn. Large number of devotees crowded the ghats of Varanasi, Allahabad, Haridwar, Ayodhya and other holy places.

Today is also Prakash Parab, the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism. The Golden Temple at Amritsar was illuminated last night, and large number of devotees converged for a dip at the holy sarovar.

Processions were carried out by Sikhs in several cities like Delhi, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Chandigarh.
