    IMA demands central law and to declare hospitals as safe zones with mandatory security entitlements

    IMA has declared 24-hour withdrawal of services by all the modern medicine doctors of the country irrespective of the sector and place of work. Emergencies and casualties will function. No OPDs. No elective surgeries. The withdrawal commences at 6 am on Saturday 17th August 2024 and ends at 6 am on Sunday 18th August 2024.

I can't give you details on the questioning that has been done in connection with this case. They have recorded our statement and taken it in writing...I express gratitude to everyone, regarding the protest that has been happening across the country and world.     CBI to question former Principal of RG Kar Hospital Sandeep Ghosh

    The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is set to question Sandeep Ghosh, the former Principal of RG Kar Medical College, in connection with the doctor’s rape and murder case. 

    During the time of the incident, Ghosh was the Principal of the college. His name also surfaced in the investigation conducted by the Kolkata Police. The CBI has already recorded statements from 15 individuals, including the victim's family, and will interrogate Ghosh based on these testimonies.

    Sandeep Ghosh has previously faced multiple allegations of corruption, which may further complicate his situation as the CBI deepens its probe into the case.

    As protests continue to escalate across India over the gruesome rape & murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) declared nationwide withdrawal of services by doctors of modern medicine from 6:00 am on Saturday (August 17) to 6:00 am Sunday (August 18) for 24 hours.
