'Do or die' (Karo Ya Maro) - ‘Quit India' (Bharat Chhodo)This call was given by the Congress Working Committee while launching the Quit India movement on August 9, 1942.Millions of Congress workers went to jail in the final phase of our freedom struggle.2. Swaraj (Self Rule) is my birthright This slogan was given by Bal Gangadhar Tilak, who was jailed by the British and sent to Mandalay jail. When he was released, and he returned to Pune, his chowkidar couldn't recognise him. Such was his zeal for Indian independence . He was described by the British as “The Father of Indian Unrest”. Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak was one of the first and strongest advocates of Swaraj (self-rule) and a strong radical in Indian consciousness.Tilak joined the Indian National Congress in 1890. He opposed its moderate attitude, especially towards the fight for self-government.4. Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan This inspiring slogan was given by the late Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri during the 1965 India-Pak war, which India won, and the Indian army almost reached the outskirts of Lahore.The slogans means “hail the soldier and hail the farmer”. At that time, India was facing foodgrain shortage and Shastri gave the call to Indians to keep fast for half of the day.Millions of Indians followed his call. Shastri gave the slogan Jai Jawan Jai Kisan to enthuse the soldiers to defend India and simultaneously cheeried farmers to do their best to increase the production of foodgrains to reduce dependence on import. It became a very popular slogan. 5. Tum Mujhe Khoon Do, main Tumhe Ajadi Doonga”. (Give me blood and I will give you freedom.): This call was given by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose to inspire people to be ready to give the supreme sacrifice for Indian independence. Bose was a fierce freedom fighter and a popular leader on the political horizon in pre-independence India.He was elected the President of the Indian National Congress in the year 1937 and 1939. He set up the Indian National Army (Azad Hind Fauj) which fought the British army, and almost came up to Manipur, where it finally lost.6. Aaram Haraam Hai (Cast off your laziness) This slogan was given by late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to enthuse people to work hard soon after India attained independence. 7. Garibi Hatao (remove poverty) This slogan was given by late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the 1971 Lok Sabha elections, which she won by a landslide margin. The slogan cheered up millions of poor people across India, for which Indira Gandhi launched the 20-point programme.8. "Jai Jawan Jai kisan Jai Vigyan" : Atal Bihari Vajpayee gave the slogan "Jai Jawan Jai kisan Jai Vigyan". Former PM of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee added "Jai Vigyan" (Hail knowledge) to the slogan "Jai Jawan Jai Kisan" to underline the importance of knowledge. The quote was given after Pokaran tests in 1998. 9. Anna Hazaare:“We keep beating the drum of democracy. Where is it, I ask? Democracy as we know it, for the people, by the people, of the people, where is it? What we have today is ‘party'cracy, ‘government'cracy. There is no democracy ….” 10. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam:A. P. J. Abdul Kalam was the 11th President of India and was popularly known as the People's President.He gave the slogan, “Don't take rest after your first victory because if you fail in second, more lips are waiting to say that your first victory was just luck.” 11. "Every Voter Is Bhgarat Bhagya Vidhata" :Narendra Modi is the 15th Prime Minister of India. Modi, a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Partyalso served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat state from 2001 to 2014.During his election campaigns, Modi gave the slogan of "Every Voter Is Bhgarat Bhagya Vidhata" and "Dal Se Bada Desh Hota Hai"
