New Delhi: At present Indian Navy has an estimated strength of around 58,350 personnel, 15 Submarines, 138 Surface fleet and only 1 Aircraft Carrier-The INS Viraat though very soon another aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya will be joining it.
INS Viraat is known as Mother in naval circles.
It was commissioned in 1987 as a second-hand warship from UK.It is now 55 years old but still constitutes two acres of sovereign Indian territory cruising on the high seas.
