In 1999 Tunda became a key figure in directing the activity of SIMI – Students Islamic Movement of India, which was just another branch in the multiple organization conglomerate of Islamic organizations linked to Pakistani ISI.
In 2003 there were rumors that Abdul-Karim Tunda was killed in gang-warfare near Dhaka.
