New DelhI: Buit in 1783  the Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib near Parliament House in New Delhi is a historic gurdwara.  Several Sikh religious shrines within the city were constructed after Sikh military leader Baghel Singh

Bhai Jaita (later Bhai Jiwan Singh) brought the Guru's severed head from Delhi to Anandpur Sahib in Punjab and was cremated by his son, Gobind Rai, who later became Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth and last Guru of
the Sikhs.

The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee is planning to build a memorial to the Sikhs killed during the 1984 Anti-Sikh riots at the site.

The Delhi High Court is considering a petition challenging the construction of the memorial, still the foundation stone for the memorial has been laid.

This Gurdwara has entrances from four sides like most other Sikh shrine symbolising that they are open to all without any distinction of caste or creed.

This historical Gurdwara was built at a cost of 25 lakh rupees and  took 12 years to complete this Gurudwara
