New Delhi: Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin now leads the Dawoodi Bohra community following the death of Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin, who passed away in Mumbai on January 17, 2014 at the age of 102 after a cardiac arrest.
Burhanuddin was credited with transforming Dawoodi Bohras into a vibrant community.
He was honoured with highest civilian titles like the Star of Jordan and Order of the Nile by the respective governments of Jordan and Egypt.
Mufaddal Saifuddin is Syedna Burhanuddin's second son. He was born on 23 Ramadan 20 August 1946 in Surat, Gujarat.
As a child he began the recitation of the Quran in Saifee Villa, Colombo, Sri Lanka.
He was declared as Dawoodi Bohra Community hajj leader in 1970.
In 1971 he was bestowed with the religious honorific title Aqeeq-ul-Yemen by his father and then spiritual leader Burhanuddin.
