Deepak Bhardwaj was born in a farming Brahmin family near Sonepat, Haryana. HE studied in Hindu High School, Sonepat, and secured National Scholarship after scoring first division in matriculation exam in 1967.
He also worked for NCC, Arya Samaj and Bharat Sevak Samaj and studied in DAV College, Jalandhar. He later migrated to Hindu College, Sonepat and then completed his graduation from Delhi University in 1973.
He organized discourses for Tihar jail prisoners during the tenure of DG Prisons Kiran Bedi.
