A total of 75 coaches will be developed by Alstom for the
Kochi Metro Rail. Each coach will be made at a cost of Rs 8.4 crore and the manufacturing of coaches is expected to be completed by December 2015, making it one of the fast developed Metro coaches in the country.
“Eventually we can control the train without a driver as the system used is highly advanced. We have already roped in an agency, Tata LC to come up with the requirements of the passengers.”
“Every component of the coaches will examined on a passenger's point of view to offer them the highest level of comfort. Fifty per cent of the staff will be women. We are planning to ink an agreement with Kudumbasree to fill in the women staff requirements.
The selected women will be given training on customer services equivalent to airport standards,” he said.
He said women oriented features will be another highlight of the Kochi Metro rail.
“All the urban transport projects implemented under Unified Metropolitan transport Authority will give special focus on women safety and security,” George added.
