Mumbai: “No kissing or overt display of affection” –reads a notice in Mumbai's Neptune Magnet Mall, targeting the youth to show some restraint in public places.
The mall located on Bhandup's Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg has put signboards at its entrances. A list of do's and don'ts includes a note on mode of conduct in the mall premises.
“During the day, a lot of college students visit the mall and make up for most of our crowd. They do not behave properly. The notice is meant for those who behave illegally,” said Nayan Shah, director of the mall.
Though the mall authorities do not ask couples to leave, but they ask them to separate and if situation goes out of hand then they call up their parents or plolice.
“Couples often go to the deserted corners and even enter the fire exit staircases to seek some privacy. We request them to leave. But if they argue, we either call their parents or contact the police,” a supervisor at the mall said.
Bhandup police is aware of the signboards but has no received any complain from the mall authorities as yet.
“We are not in favour of moral policing. The management owns the premises and it is their decision. However, if we receive a complaint, we will act accordingly” said a police official.
