New Delhi: On completion of training, the accused provided various articles to the terrorists including Yamaha engine, life jackets, inflatable boats, cellphones, GPS, air pumps and different weapons.

Terrorists by travelling through boats Al-Hussaini and Al-Fouz succeeded to reach the sea and after hijacking of Indian boat Al-Kubair, finally reached the shore of Mumbai to carry out Mumbai terror attacks on 26-28 November... furthermore, Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi is their (LeT) operational commander and they operated from different training centres at Battal, Manshera, Muzaffarabad, Yousaf Goth Karachi and Mirpur Sikroo, Thatta” Pakistan's interim chargesheet, filed in court on September 20, 2009, reports Indian Express.

In this most detailed Pakistani chargesheet on the 26/11 attacks, filed in court last September, the Pakistani Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) revealed that it has located two camps — one of which was a 48-acre training facility near a creek in Thatha district of Sindh — where the terrorists who attacked Mumbai were trained.

Crucial proof showing distribution of weapons to the terrorists and detailed maps of the Indian coastline, besides training manuals, have been shown as having been recovered from these camps. Recoveries like instructions on using a mobile phone during an operation have been made from the residence of one of the accused.

The 61-page interim court challan states: “Accused Hammad Amin Sadiq led the EO to a 48 acres LeT camp near Goth Ali Nawaz Shah in Tehsil Mirpur Sakro, District Thatha (Sindh), on which five thatched rooms and a three-room house is built. The piece of land is located about two kilometres from a creek where from small boats sail to the sea. Training was given to activists of LeT in this camp.”

From this camp, Pakistani investigators recovered two pocket diaries containing names of the accused and details of expenditure incurred to run the camp. One chit, the document states, indicates “distribution of weapons and explosives to ten terrorists”. Another diary contained “recommendations for maximum water endurance of militants”.

Sadiq, who was termed “mastermind” by Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik, and who is now in custody, also pointed the investigators to another training camp in Karachi.

“...The EO traced an LeT training camp at Yousaf Goth, Landhi Karachi, code name ‘Azizabad' where training sessions were held in a classroom with a world map”. It may be noted that Ajmal Kasab also referred to the training camp as Azizabad, and which was also the term used in documents recovered from M V Kuber.

From here, the investigators recovered “militant literature... different maps including detailed map of the Indian coastline, handwritten literature on navigational training, manual of intelligence course meant for operations, a cellular services agreement in the name of Muhammad Sabir Safi (crew member of boat Al-Husseini)” among other items.

At Sadiq's home — R-46 Millat Town, Karachi — investigators claimed to have found a “small notebook containing instructions how to use a mobile phone during operations” and a book titled Hum jihad kyon kar rahay hain? This book, written by Abdussalam Bin Mohammed, has been recovered in the past by Indian authorities from LeT operatives.

Also, a copy of LeT monthly Majallah-al-Dawah of September 2006 was recovered, besides a wallet that contained a Thuraya SIM card, two other SIM cards, and a visiting card of ARZ Sports, whose owner bought and sold the Yamaha engine that was recovered from the dinghy the terrorists used to land in Mumbai.

It was Sadiq who disclosed that Amjid Khan — to whom the owner of ARZ Sports sold the Yamaha engine and 11 life jackets in the months preceding the 26/11 attacks — operated a boat by the name Al-Hussaini, which tallied with what Indian investigators had discovered.

Sadiq also led the investigators, according to the chargesheet, to G-51, Gulshan-e-Ghazali, Shah Faisal Town, Karachi, where Amjid Khan had put up the crew members. The owner of the house gave a statement recognizing the photographs of the crew members.

The FIA investigators then approached Pakistan Customs, from whom they obtained the registration number of Al-Hussaini — BFD-5846 — and its port clearance certificate (PCC), issued on September 20, 2008. The owner of the ship is one Muhammad Khan, resident of Turbat, Balochistan. The ship is registered with the Balochistan Fisheries Department.

Muhammad Khan is absconding, but investigators obtained the list of 12 crew members attached with the PCC. The list included Amjid Khan and Shahid Jamil Riaz. As per the list, one Shahid Gafoor was the “tindal (captain)”.

Pakistani investigators also found that the accused had hired two other boats, Al-Atta and Al-Fouz, the latter of which was used along with Al-Hussaini to transport the terrorists.
