Shiva and Jadeswamy are death row convicts who had brutally raped and murdered an 18-year-old girl on October 15, 2001, and now nemesis is to follow.

The high court rejected the appeal and confirmed death penalty in November 2005. This was confirmed by the Supreme Court in 2007.

Shivu (son of Munishetty) and Jadeswamy (son of Rangashetty)  hail from Kollegal in Chamarajanagar district. They had submitted the mercy petitions on February 28, 2007.

The Hindalga prison is the only one in the State that has the facility for hanging convicts on death row. The last execution was carried out in the prison in 1983, when murder convict Hanumanth was hanged.

The prison does not have a hangman and plans to train one of its personnel when required. It has facilities for executing three persons at a time.

The Home ministry in April 2013 recommended rejection of their mercy petition following which two new mercy petitions were filed on Shivu's behalf.
