Mumbai: Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray on Thursday lashed out at Commonwealth Games Organizing Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi saying he has ruined the Games.
"Kalmadi has ruined the Games. What should I say about mismanagement of the CWG event and criticism the country is facing. Ask Delhi about it," Thackeray said while replying a query on alleged corruption in the CWG event.
"He (Kalmadi) is not a trustworthy person. He had come to me after leaving Congress (in late 90s) and I told him to stay here properly but in vain," Thackeray said.
Thackeray was speaking to newsmen at an event where Tejaswini Sawant, the first Indian woman shooter to clinch a gold medal at the World Championships, met the aged leader.
Sawant, accompanied by Kolhapur 'sampark pramukh' of Sena, Arun Dudhwalkar, met the Sena chief at Matoshree, his suburban residence in Bandra. Maharashtra cabinet on Wednesday had congratulated Tejaswini Sawant for her feat at the World Championships in Munich, Germany.
Tejaswini shot a world-record equalling score of 597 (100,100,100,99,99,99) in the 50m Rifle Prone event to finish on top. She equalled the 1998 record set by Marina Bobkova of Russia. PTI
