Pithoragarh, May 31: Preparations for this year's Kailash Mansarovar Yatra have been completed by the nodal agency, Kumaun Mandal Vikas Nigam, the district administration here and ITBP, officials said today.
The yatra this year will begin from New Delhi on June 1 and reach the Dharchula base camp on June 2.
“From this year the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra route has been changed and now the pilgrims will drive straight to Narain Ashram instead of Mangti as happened till last year,” said DK Sharma, senior tourism manager in charge of the yatra.
“After reaching Sirkha camp on June 2, the pilgrims will reach Gala camp on June 3 and after camping at Bundi camp the next day, they will reach Gunji where a team of ITBP doctors will take a medical test of the pilgrims. According to KMVN, 47 pilgrims, including 13 women pilgrim, have joined the first batch which is being led by APS Nimbadia, an ITBP officer.
According to district magistrate of Pithoragarh, security and communication arrangements for the four-month-long yatra have been completed and police and ITBP Jawans have been deputed at all the camps.
The 644-km-long pilgrimage, which includes a 574-km motor journey from New Delhi up to the Dharchula base camp, passes through five camps at Sirkha, Gala, Bundi, Gunji and Nabhidhang before crossing the Lipulekh Pass. PTI
