New Delhi: Justice T S Thakur, the senior-most judge of Supreme Court will be the next Chief Justice of India. He will succeed the present CJI H L Dattu. The process of appointing Thakur as CJI began on Wednesday.
Justice Dattu will retire next month on December 2 and the same day Justice Thakur will be sworn in as the CJI by President Pranab Mukherjee.

Date of retirement for present CJI H L DATTU is December 2 2015. After that
Justice T S Thakur will be CJI from 2.12.2015 to 03.01.2017

Justice Deepak Mishra from 27.08.2017 to 02.10.2018
Justice Ranjan Gogoi from 02.10.2018 to 17.11.2019
