India, Bangladesh seal historic Land Boundary Agreement

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's maiden visit here, India and Bangladesh today sealed a historic agreement that will settle a 41-year-old land boundary dispute through exchange of territories, removing a major irritant in bilateral ties.

The two sides exchanged documents regarding the Land Boundary Agreement (LBA) that was passed unanimously by the Parliament last month in the presence of Modi and his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina besides West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi today came down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of trying to deflect attention away from the NDA government's "unfulfilled promises", and also targeted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as he questioned her "friendship" with BJP.

He sought to project Congress as the viable third alternative for the state, saying his party will bring a change in the fortunes of West Bengal, where Assembly polls are due in 2016.

 NIA to probe the killing of 18 Army men in Manipur

The probe into the killing of 18 Army men in Manipur has been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

The Home Ministry today issued a notification formally handing over the case to the NIA, which will immediately start the investigation, official sources said.

The NIA, which was set up after the 2008 Mumbai terror attack, is mandated to probe all terror related cases anywhere in the country.

An enabled physical, social, economic and institutional infrastructure is a must for the success of the upcoming Smart Cities project in India, union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu.

The minister said civic services imply a gamut of daily needs of the people and for Smart Cities, they petain to the needs of the urban areas which are intended to become ‘smart' through several interventions.

Rahul Dravid was today appointed coach of the India A and Under-19 cricket teams after the first meeting of BCCI's advisory committee.

“The good news is that Rahul Dravid has agreed to coach India ‘A' and under-19 teams in future,” BCCI Secretary Anurag Thakur said in a press conference after the committee's meeting.
