Bengaluru: Two out of the four alleged jihadis and murder accused of Hindu Munnani general secretary - Suresh Kumar in Ambattur in Tamil Nadu on June 18, are said to be from ‘socially committed' organizations in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
“Shameem has confessed that he was collecting funds for the organization in Gulbarga and Sadiq is a member of another similar organization in Tamil Nadu,” said the officer. Shameem and Sadiq along with the third accused Samiullah are in judicial custody at the Central Prison at Parapanna Agrahara, Bengaluru. The fourth accused Shahid Ali Nawaz is in judicial custody in Tamil Nadu.
On August 6, the accused were arrested in a joint operation by the city and Tamil Nadu police and taken to Chennai.
They were recently brought to Bengaluru on body warrants for interrogation. The police of Tamil Nadu had arrested two more persons on the same day - Abu Dagir and Haqeem - from a house in Hosur for alleged involvement in Kumar's murder. The accused are in judicial custody in Chennai. They hail from Tamil Nadu, but Samiullah and Sadiq had migrated to Bengaluru some years ago.
