New Delhi: The Jharkhand Disom Party (JDP) on Monday formally merged with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of former chief minister Arjun Munda at a function organized in Jamshedpur.
Announcing the merger, Munda said a strong wave in favour of the BJP is sweeping across the state.
The Jharkhand Discom Party was founded in 2002 by BJP MP Salkhan Marmu with a motto of working for the rights of the adivasi population in the state.
Meanwhile, there are reports that the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) will announce its merger with the BJP on Tuesday.
Assembly elections in Jharkhand are due later this year.
