Noida International Airport launch: Infrastructure part of national policy, not politics for BJP, says PM Modi

PM Narendra Modi said that Jewar airport is also an example of how earlier government in Uttar Pradesh and at Centre ignored development of western Uttar Pradesh. "Infrastructure not politics for us but part of national policy; we're ensuring projects don't get stuck and are completed in time," he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Uttar Pradesh, which was kept in darkness by previous govts, now leaving its mark not only nationally but internationally too. "UP has become focal point for investments by multinational companies; it'll have five international airports," he said.

PM Narendra Modi said that Noida International Airport will give new employment opportunities to thousands of people of western Uttar Pradesh. "After 7 decades, UP getting what it always deserved; with efforts of double-engine govt, UP turning into country's most connected region," the PM said.

PM Modi after laying foundation stone for Noida International Airport in Jewar said that the airport will benefit crores of people of Delhi-NCR, western Uttar Pradesh. "Noida International Airport at Jewar will become logistics gateway of northern India," he said.

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that it was PM Narendra Modi's direction that Asia's biggest airport is to be built in Uttar Pradesh. "Investments of Rs 34,000 cr to come to Noida Intern'l Airport; 1st phase to be complete in 2024," Scindia said.

Kiran Jain, COO, Noida International Airport, said that the design of the airport focuses on the convenience of passengers. The processes at the airport will be digitally enabled. We are working towards being a net-zero carbon emission airport and aim to get operational by Sept/Oct 2024.

The airport is being developed by Swiss concessionaire Zurich International Airport AG's subsidiary Yamuna International Airport Private Limited for the Uttar Pradesh government. The first phase of the project is spread over 1,300 hectares and would cost more than Rs 10,000 crore, the officials said, adding that it is expected to be ready by October 2024. Amit Modi, Director, ABA Corp & President-elect CREDAI Western UP, said that the airport is going to be a gamechanger for the region. It will be establishing the city on a global logistics map. The state government has always been very supportive and proactive in terms of development opportunities, ease of doing business etc. Now with this airport, the region will reap economic multiplier benefits, it will also open sources of employment in the construction business. It will also be giving a boost to the corporate travel and leisure opportunities, and bring Noida and Greater Noida at par with the millennium city of Gurugram.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reaches Jewar. He will shortly lay the foundation stone of Asia's largest airport. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath and Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia are also present. 

Thousands of people, including women and children, on Thursday reached Jewar amid heavy security as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to lay the foundation stone for the Noida International Airport. Heavy security has been deployed at and around the event venue. Visitors are being frisked before entering the 'jan sabha' area, officials said, adding that the police have banned black flags.

The first phase of the Noida International Airport at Jewar will entail an investment of Rs 8,914 crore and the initial annual passenger handling capacity will be 12 million. Deepak Kapoor, Director, Gulshan Group, said that the Jewar Airport will place Noida on a global map. It will bring lot of investment from multiple industries, new section of corporate class including HNIS, UHNIs will be evaluating the city for long-term income opportunities due to the seamless connectivity and high-end infrastructural developments like film city. "We are excited to see the fast paced development and support from government, and look forward to airport becoming fully operational," he said.

The airport will create job and employment opportunities to more than 1 lakh people. Manoj Gaur, CMD Gaurs Group and Vice President NORTH CREDAI, said that the airport is a phenomenal news for the upliftment of the region. The region has already seen immense investment which would result in economic growth, not only of the YEIDA region but also of the entire state. The increasing business activity will also ensure employment opportunities that should result in increased demand for residential as well as commercial properties. 

The airport is introducing a swing aircraft stand concept, providing flexibility for airlines to operate an aircraft for both domestic and international flights from the same contact stand, without having to re-position the aircraft. This will ensure quick and efficient aircraft turnarounds at the airport while ensuring a smooth and seamless passenger transfer process. 

It will be India's first net-zero emissions airport. It has earmarked dedicated land to be developed as a forest park using trees from the project site and the NIA will preserve all native species and be nature positive throughout the development of the airport.

The Noida airport will also be linked to the planned Delhi-Varanasi High-Speed Rail, enabling people to complete the journey between Delhi and the airport in only 21 minutes. The airport will also house a state-of-the-art MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhauling) service. The design of the airport is focused on low operating costs and seamless and fast transfer processes for passengers.

Noida and Delhi will be connected to the airport through hassle-free metro service, as well as major nearby roads and highways like the Yamuna Expressway, Western Peripheral Expressway, Eastern Peripheral Expressway, Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and others will be connected to the airport.

The airport will develop a Ground Transportation Centre that will feature a multi-modal transit hub, housing metro and high-speed rail stations, taxi, bus services and private parking. This will enable seamless connectivity of the airport with road, rail and metro.

For the first time, an airport in India has been conceptualised with an integrated multi-modal cargo hub, with a focus on reducing the total cost and time for logistics. The dedicated cargo terminal will have a capacity of 20 lakh metric tonnes, which will be expanded to 80 lakh metric tonnes. By facilitating seamless movement of industrial products, the airport will play a crucial role in helping the region attract huge investments, boost rapid industrial growth and enable reach of local products to national and international markets. This will bring new opportunities for numerous enterprises and also create tremendous employment opportunities.

Noida International Airport This airport will be the second international airport to come up in Delhi-NCR. It will help decongest the Indira Gandhi International Airport. It is strategically located and will serve the people of cities including Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Agra, Faridabad and neighbouring areas. The airport will be the logistics gateway of northern India and due to its scale and capacity, it will be a game changer for Uttar Pradesh.

Uttar Pradesh is poised to become the only state in India to have five international airports as Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stone of the Noida International Airport in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, on November 25 at 1 PM. The development of the first phase of the airport is being done at a cost of over Rs 10,050 crore. Spread over more than 1,300 hectares of land, the completed first phase of the airport will have the capacity to serve around 1.2 crore passengers a year and work on it is scheduled to be completed by 2024.

The development of the airport is in line with the vision of Prime Minister Modi to boost connectivity and create a future-ready aviation sector, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said in a statement on Tuesday. A special focus of this grand vision has been on Uttar Pradesh that is witnessing the development of multiple new international airports including the recently inaugurated Kushinagar airport and the under-construction international airport at Ayodhya.

Uttar Pradesh will soon become the only state in India to have five international airports with Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to lay the foundation stone of the Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar on Thursday.
