Jammu: BJP unit of Jammu and Kashmir yesterday demanded a separate communication centre which could provide the names of the rescued people so that their kin are “free from agonising worries”.
“The government should set up a separate communication centre which would be giving names of the people who have been rescued, and are now safely putting up at the established shelters, so that their kith and kin are freed from agonising worries,” MP and state BJP President, Jugal Kishore Sharma said.
Sharma along with other senior leaders of the party today met Divisional Commissioner Shantmanu here. They also gave suggestions to ameliorate the suffering of the flood-affected people.
Sharma also gave the Divisional Commissioner a list of the places where they claimed people are in the dire need of rescue.
He said that road connectivity to the areas worst hit by the flash floods is still not restored.
“People in the border areas have been worst sufferers and National Disaster Management teams should be dispatched to these areas also,” he said.
The senior BJP leader also demanded that government supply free rations and other essential commodities to the victims of the floods.
He said that a survey should also be conducted through the revenue department to assess the loss caused to the people so that effective and result oriented rehabilitation process is put in place.
